تمكّن إبليس من الوسوسة لِـكريهه الرجل آدم، بالتعاون مع الأفعى الغيورة أيضا. أحرز إبليس متعة تحريض آدم وحواء على تذوّق ثمار شجرة الخلد، وبينما هما على أعتاب هذا الفعل؛ كان قد جهّز الوقت المناسب الذي ستتدخّل فيه البومة؛ كوسيلة لقطف قطعة من شجرة الخلد. كانت مخلوقا طاهرا، كمثل جميع سكان السماء، من طيور الجنّة الملائكية إلى تعاون خادع مع إبليس الحسود، حلّقت البومة بأجنحتها الستّة حول الشجرة، فلم ترى شيئا بسبب نور الجنّة الذي سبّب لها غشاوة، ولكن لما حلّقت فوق الشجرة؛ رأت ظلمة وتمكّنت من التقاط القطعة بمنقارها الطويل والهرب بها بعيدا عن الشجرة، والذي احترق من لحظته؛ فرمت البومة القطعة للحيّة التي اِستقبلتها والتقطتها بين يديها، فاحترقت ومنه استعانت برجليها؛ لتمسك بها فاحترقت أطرافها وهي تحمل القطعة، ثم طلب منها إبليس أن ترمي بها داخل القرطاس حتى تبرد؛ فكانت تترنّح وتهزّ برأسها يمينًا شمالا؛ بسبب فقدها لبصرها الذي خُطف منها. اِستغلال ناجح لأجل الحصول على قطعة، حتى يتم صناعة قلم سحري منها وإخراجه من الجنّة.

طُردت الحيّة المعمّرة من الجنّة بعد غضب الإله عليها، وتم إرسالها عبر مسار طاقوي لبوابة زمنية في المغرب الأقصى؛ فاِستوطنت الحيّة صحراء مراكش في بئر مهجورة هناك والتي كانت في القديم تُتّخذ أرضها من طرف أقوام الجآن، مرصدا لهم.

هيمنت الأفعى على المكان؛ فلم يسلم من شرّها بني آدم أبدًا، لقد اِتخذتهم أعداءًا لها فكانت ترى أنهم السبب وراء طردها وأيضا هناك سبب آخر جعلها شرسة وهو فقدانها لذلك الجمال، الذي كانت تتمتّع به بعد أن جرّدها الله من يديها ورجليها وتحوّلت إلى زاحفة؛ يتبدّل جلدها كل الوقت على إثر تلك الحادثة .

لم تعترف بذنبها بل شعرت أن ما قدّمته من مساعدة لإبليس كان خيرًا، ظلمت نفسها بذلك المعروف، الذي لم تجني من وراءه أي منفعة وكان سبب خسارتها لمكانتها في الجنّة ولكل ما تملكه.

نجحت خطّة إبليس في جعل الحيّة؛ تعتقد أن ما فعلته كان هو الخير وأن القيام به يجلب السوء والمهانة؛ لذلك اِختارت الشرّ طريق لها وبدأت تكيد للبشر هي وبناتها المليكات التسعة؛ لدرجة أن حتى إبليس؛ صار يخاف منها ولا يرفض لها طلبًا.

لم تكن شجرة الخلد هي نبتة التفاح كما تداولته الأساطير، وإنما هي ثمار من نوع آخر تمامًا؛ عندما يتم فصلها عن الغصن تتقطر مادة صمغية مغذّية للثمرة؛ تلتصق بجزء يجمع بين الغصن والفاكهة وهذه بالذات هي القطعة التي صنّع منها القلم السحري؛ إذ تحوي سائل نُسْغي كمداد ما إن كُـتِب به شيء على صحيفة؛ ينعكس ويتحقق فورًا على أرض الواقع ولذلك؛ يتصارع كل الحكّام والسحرة، لنيل هذا القلم الذي يطلقون عليه اسم الزئبق الأحمر؛ مداد قلم شجرة الخلد والملك الذي لايبلى، وليس مركب كيميائي من الأرض كما يزعمون. 

ولأن إبليس لا يستطيع الإمساك بالقلم قرر الاستعانة بغيره؛ شخص سينتقيه على حسب شروط معينة، تتيح له التحكّم في قلم تلك الشجرة؛ فاِستخدم قرطاس لحفظ القلم، حتى لا يحرقه كالبومة أو يؤذي به نفسه، ولكن يهدد به من يعارضه.

Iblis succeeded in whispering to Adam, the man he detested, in collaboration with the envious serpent as well. He took pleasure in inciting Adam and Hawwâ to taste the fruits of the Tree of Eternity. As they stood on the threshold of this act, he had already prepared the precise moment when the owl would intervene as a means to pluck a fragment from the Tree of Eternity.

A pure creature, like all the inhabitants of Heaven, from the angelic birds of Paradise to the deceptive collaboration with the envious Iblis, the owl soared with her six wings around the tree. She saw nothing due to the light of Paradise that clouded her vision, but when she hovered above the tree, she perceived a darkness and managed to seize the fragment with her long beak and flee far from the tree. Her beak was instantly burned; so the owl threw the fragment to the serpent, who received it and caught it between her hands, which also burned. She then used her legs to hold it, but her extremities burned as well while carrying the fragment. Then Iblis asked her to throw it inside a parchment to cool down; she began to sway and shake her head right and left, deprived of her sight which had been snatched from her. A successful exploitation aimed at obtaining a fragment, in order to manufacture a magical pen from it and bring it out of Paradise.

The eternal serpent was expelled from Paradise after God's wrath fell upon her. She was sent via an energetic corridor to a temporal gateway in "the Far Maghreb"; thus the serpent settled in the desert of "Marrakech", in an abandoned well that was historically used by the peoples of the Jinn as an observatory for them.

The serpent dominated the place; no son of Adam was ever safe from her evil. She had taken them as enemies, for she saw them as the reason behind her expulsion, and there was another reason that made her ferocious: the loss of that beauty which she had enjoyed, after God had stripped her of her hands and legs and transformed her into a crawler; her skin sheds constantly as a consequence of that incident.

She did not admit her guilt, but rather felt that the assistance she had offered Iblis was a good deed. She wronged herself through that favor, which brought her no benefit and was the cause of her losing her status in Paradise and everything she possessed.

Iblis's plan succeeded in making the serpent believe that what she had done was good, and that pursuing good only brings humiliation and ruin. Therefore, she chose evil as her path and began to plot against humans, she and her nine queen daughters; to the extent that even Iblis became afraid of her and never refused any of her requests.

The Tree of Eternity was not an apple tree as myths have circulated, but rather its fruits were of another kind entirely: when separated from the branch, a gum-like, nourishing substance for the fruit drips; it adheres to a part connecting the branch and the fruit. This specific fragment is what the magical pen was manufactured from; for it contains a gum-like fluid as ink, no sooner is something written with it on a page than it is reflected and realized instantly in reality. This is why all rulers and sorcerers contend to obtain this pen, which they call Red Mercury: the ink of the pen of the Tree of Eternity and the imperishable sovereignty, and not an earthly chemical compound as they claim.

And because Iblis cannot hold the pen himself, he decided to enlist someone else; a person he would select according to specific conditions, allowing him to control the pen of that tree. So he used a parchment to preserve the pen, to avoid being burned like the owl or harming himself with it, but to threaten with it anyone who opposes him.
